What are Bejeweled games

Bejeweled games are named after the Bejeweled game series created by PopCap Games. The PopCap game was first released for internet browsers in 2001. It was followed by a number of sequels and spin-offs, and a huge amount of online clones. As a genre, Bejeweled refers to a type of game in which players must sort a series of gems, jewels, sweets, or other items by shape and color to form sequences.

How to play

In each level the player has a specific objective, such as collecting a particular item, popping special tiles, or creating combinations using a particular icon. Each objective can always be achieved by matching up three or more identical icons to form a chain. This chain will then disappear, and new gems will fall down to fill the open space. The player can only move gems by making two adjacent gems swap places. However, gems can only be swapped if this move immediately results in a valid combination. Sometimes, clearing a chain will trigger the automatic formation of new chains. This type of chain reaction is called a cascade, and is usually worth a lot of bonus points.
