Chess – a classic strategy game
Chess is a very ancient game and appears to have its origins in a strategy game from Ancient India called chaturanga. Spread through various trade routes, the game travelled to Persia (where it is known as chatrang or shatranj) and into the Muslim world and to Europe. In 15th-century Southern Europe, the rules of the game underwent significant changes, leading to the emergence of the game of chess as we know it today.
